Your One-Line-Only Marketing Plan

by John Delavera

Saturday morning...
I am staring at my laptop... the sun is shining outside...
and my brain creates imaginary pictures... of you.

I am trying to imagine why YOU want to become an Internet
Marketer...

I can imagine some of the reasons:

"I want to make the Internet work for me. It's good to wear
my pajamas and count the orders I am receiving through
Paypal, ClickBank, 2CheckOut.com, etc... I want to make an
extra income to help my parents, my family... I want to
satisfy the needs of my wife (the financial ones:-))... I
want to make extra money to purchase special Christmas
gifts for my kids... I want some extra money to buy a
car... I want to prove "I can do it"... I want this... I
want that..."

Now...
Ask me why I wanted to become an Internet Marketer.

"John, why did you want to become an Internet Marketer?"

Good question!
Thanks.

The answer is:
Because I wanted to become a Web-Tycoon!

Can you realize and understand how outrageous this wish was
18 months ago?

No, you cannot.

Today, you see my work, "hear" about me through my
affiliates, read my posts in the forums, even buy my
products and congratulate me for the work done.

That stands for TODAY.

Ask me how I was feeling 18 months ago.

Brrrrrr.....

I don't want to remember.

Was I lucky?
No.

Was I the best worker or the cleverest person on this
planet?
No.

Have I been supported by Big Names?
No - and that's a complaint I'll always carry in my heart.

Am I Midas to touch the coal and transform it into gold?
No.

"So... John..." I hear you asking...
"How did you manage to make the difference?"

The answers are:

1. By working hard from 7 pm until 4 am for the past 3
years.

2. By investing ALL the money from my first sales to buy
things I needed to know and use (ebooks, software, access
to membership sites, etc.)

3. By becoming obsessed in my initial wish:
To become a Web-Tycoon.

You see... counting orders, being in a warm environment
inside your house, wearing your pajamas.... it's a good
feeling indeed. Pajamas is the "working-suit" of an
Internet Marketer... Or at least MY working suit. But
Pajamas or not... it's a WORKING suit. I was working on my
computer... I didn't care what my parents, friends, and
wife thought about me... At first, they all thought that I
was "playing" with that "bloody" computer too much... Ask
them what they think today... Recognition is a good
feeling. It's one of the best feelings in this world. But
it's the hardest feeling you can obtain... And no one gives
it away.

Now I'll try to imagine why you're reading these lines...

You're reading these lines and you're a successful
marketer. You want to see "what John writes" because you
enjoy my style of writing and that's all. You're also
curious to see what I am preparing to do in the future...
You want to see my next creation and deep inside you want
me to "surprise" you one more time... "This John came
from nowhere and created all these products in less than 18
months..." you're thinking...

If this is the case, I am going to surprise you many times
in the near future.

Or...

You're reading these lines because you get inspired by my
writing. You feel that you know the basic steps for
starting your online business. But somehow, you can't
start. You think you know everything, but everything seems
so difficult to put into place. So, you ask for more time,
and keep hoping that "one day," you'll start getting your
checks - eventually by the sales of your product or your
affiliate commissions.

If this is your case, remember this word: DIAMOND

Or...

You know what you want. Perhaps, you want to become a
Web-Tycoon, too. You have sold some items and got some
checks... nothing special, but around $100-300 per month.
"Since John did it, I can do it too," you think.

If this is your case, you're right. Since I did it, you CAN
do it too.

Or...

You just want to see what I'm going to offer you here since
I frequently offer free things, special prices, big
packages for pennies. And that's it.

If this is your case, you're reading the newsletter that
answers your wishes. I like bonuses, both to receive them
and to offer them.

Now...

DIAMOND (remember?)

Get a piece of paper. Do it now. I can wait.
(Don't cheat! Get a piece of paper and a pen. Now.)

....

Ready?

Good.

Please get the pen and write:

"My name is [WRITE YOUR NAME HERE] and I can ..."

Did you write it?

Now...

Have this piece of paper next to your computer and complete
the sentence by using 2-5 words only. ONLY 2-5 WORDS.

Example:

"My name is John and I can invent things."

Or...

"My name is Judy and I can create collections."

Or

"My name is Joe and I can scrutinize things."

Or

"My name is Steve and I can record audio files."

Or

"My name is Peter and I can write well."

Or

"My name is Maria and I can draw."

Or

"My name is Garry and I can program."

And then ask yourself.

Is this what you REALLY can do?
Is this what you really LOVE to do?

If NOT, then change it.

Write down what you REALLY CAN AND LOVE to do.

Don't write a wish. Write down what you can and love to do.

Believe it or not, this phrase is YOUR first Internet
Marketing Plan. You can read 1000s of books, pay 1000s of
dollars for consulting, but this the only marketing plan
you need. Your next step is to START implementing your
plan.

I'll give you an example.

Do you know how and why I created TurboReferer, Dynamic
Pricing Generator, Special Offer Manager, TurboZiner's
Anti-Filter Tool, and MrZine?

Believe it or not, I was trying to find solutions for...
myself.

I wanted to reward people for sending sales to my sites (my
FUTURE sites.) I searched for a way to do this, but nothing
existed online... I wanted to give different prizes to
people: prize A for sending 10 customers, prize B for
sending 20 customers, prize C for sending 50 customers. So
I created a draft on how this program should work and
that's how http://turboreferer.com was born.

I did the same thing for the Dynamic Pricing Generator.
I wanted a way to create anxiety for my visitors. If you
visit my site today, my product will cost $10. Visit it
tomorrow and the price will be $10.50. Visit it after a
week and the price will be $15. Simple, eh?
Check it here: http://software4profit.com/dynamic

I also created the Special Offer Manager for automating my
Special Offers. I use Special Offers a lot and I wanted a
way for automating the whole process: count the orders,
replace the messages, count the days, update the web pages,
etc. Here it is: http://software4profit.com/som

Then, one day, I started to get worried about sp*amming. I
knew that Spam Assassin is being used by many servers to
filter email messages. So even if my newsletter was not
Spam, Spam Assassin would delete my messages if certain
words were being repeated or if certain phrases were being
used inside my messages. That's how I created the
Anti-Filter tool. I told my programmers to study how Spam
Assassin works and create "an Assassin for Spam Assassin."
I also added some unique features - precious to ezine
writers - like auto-formatting the text of the message to
(say) 60 characters, breaking up the "sp*am-able" words
automatically, etc., and that's how TurboZiner was born:
http://software4profit.com/turboziner

I was also trying to find the BEST way for keeping the
subscribers of a newsletter subscribed. I was wondering
what would be the best incentive for a subscriber. Then I
remembered when we were kids that we used to collect
"cards" and then "cash" our cards for prizes or bonuses...
That's the idea I used to create MrZine.com:
The Net's Only Automatic Bonus Distribution System at
http://mrzine.com.

I followed the same practice I described to you above, got
a piece of paper, and wrote:

"My name is John and I can invent things."

... but I also wrote a second phrase:

"and I can create collections."

You can recall the article I wrote some months ago about
the first online creation I created: a list of 1200 books
from Amazon. That collection still sends commissions to me.
Not big commissions, but commissions nonetheless. I started
like you, with little to no knowledge of internet
marketing, so I used to download almost ALL of the free
ebooks related to Internet Marketing I found on the Net. I
noticed that there WASN'T any ebook-collection where
someone could BRAND ALL the ebooks for free. That's how I
created the collection: http://best-free-ebook.com

As for the http://best-seller-ebook.com, I have created a
special report where I described why and how I created that
product. The report will be included in Push Button
Publishing's "Ebook of the Month" section this December
2003.

You'll be amazed to read about all the methods and tactics
I used. If you're a member of Push Button Publishing at
http://turboreferer.com/r/pbp,
you'll have the chance to download that report and brand it
free too.

I'd also like to publicly thank Joseph Chengery III for
proofreading that report for me and for his help whenever I
need it. I am waiting for Joe to create his site and to
help him create his online business. That's life, folks:
you give 10 and get 100 in return. By the way, I also would
like to thank Steve Boutelle and Malacka for their help,
as well as Bernard from France. Bernard's advice - some
months ago - was to "write from the heart." He liked
reading personal experiences from another marketing man.
That's how I started writing from my heart too.

So...

Just complete the sentence:

"My name is [WRITE YOUR NAME HERE] and I can ..."

When you're 100% positive that what you wrote is EXACTLY
what you can and love to do, then you're ready to start.
Keep working and if you don't know things, just ASK.

I must admit that I never would have created what I have
created so far if I hadn't had the help through the
Warriors' Forum at http://turboreferer.com/r/warriors and
also the precious comments of Terry Dean through his
NetBreakThroughs.com site at
http://turboreferer.com/r/netbreak. Additionally, BenJamin
Prater's ebook "Software Secrets Exposed" at
http://turboreferer.com/r/sse,
was the inspiration I needed in order to START creating my
mini software empire and my presence on the Net.
Ben was also the first marketer who supported me when I
needed that support by commenting on TurboReferer in his
newsletter. Thank you all: Allen, Terry, and Ben.

Now ask me this:

What would you have done 18 months ago if you had met
someone named John Delavera?

Good question.

I'd have carefully observed what John did, what John
offered, what John wrote. Since John and I "can invent
things" and "create collections," I'd have become his
student. I'd have sent a message to him, saying, "Hello
John. I want to become your student. I want you to help me
find my way on the Net. I can invent things like you and I
am a hard worker. I can create the best collections of
online resources the way you did and I think you can help
me find my way on the Net."

That's what I'd have done. I'd have become John's protege -
see "Internet Marketing Protege PLUS+," at
http://software4profit.com/protege, because John's protege
package is not just a collection of ebooks, software,
courses, and scripts. It's the beginning of a new
relationship with someone I'd have trusted and wanted to
work with. A start to a personal relationship that would
have helped me reach my success on the Net.

But you see... I didn't have the chance to meet any "John
Delavera" 18 months ago. I wish I could have met someone
like me:) I am saying this without any will to flatter
myself. It's just the plain truth. I'd have saved time and
money indeed.

But, you're lucky.
I am here.
